The Vacant House

Destroyers of Cool Old Buildings

Once grand and full of life
Now
No heat, it’s cold and dark
No electricity, so silent so empty
No water, the pipes have burst
The shades are up
The treasure in full view
Of the thieves and the thugs
Windows shattered in clumbsy attempt
To rip them out
The porch columns plucked one by one
Fuel for the hobo’s fire
But you mantel and buffet so massive
and so well secured
You are too heavy to remove
